But I think Boston plays 14 of their next 26 vs losing teams. ANd the Yankees are still a losing team…..44-44, I believe starting today.
They have played 3 games vs losing teams since the break and are still 10 back. Even if boston goes 40-32 in their next 72, NY would have to go 51 - 24 and they haven’t shown they can do that.
Eh, who knows. I will say this that it’s been more fun without the Yanks in the playoff picture than it is with them in the playoff picture. I know that baseball believes that baseball begins and ends with the Yanks, but I also believe that middle america is sick and tired of them……

Not eloquently put, but well put nonetheless.
The Yankees will rise from the ashes like the phoenix, and rule over all of baseball very soon.
Middle America can go **** an egg, as can all the lazy Yankee-hating humanoid slobs sacked out on their crappy rented furniture. . . .

It ain’t over till the fat lady says it’s over. The Yanks have a volitile lineup, for sure. At .500 nobody is out in July or August. They aren’t out usually in September even. But it IS uphill. They could do it. Look at the Cubs. It’s the monkey and the typewriter for them. The Yuppies HAVE to be right sometime!!! Don’t ever bet against the Yankees, especially with the Cubs over .500.

You’re forgetting that you are one of those sub .500 teams also. “So other teams are going to be looking at their schedule saying yes we have a below .500 team coming up so we can make up some games” as well.
October 5th, 2009 at 5:18 am
as much as i like the yanks no chance… its impossible only a miracle would do that but yankees do miracles… so we’ll just have 2 wait and see…
October 5th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
But what Yankees fans fail to realize is that they are 9-14 against those teams this year so why should anyone think that because they have these teams coming up on their schedule anything is going to be any different. Their main issue is the inconsistent play on the road not the strength of the schedule they have been playing. If they start winning on the road then they may have a chance but they they keep losing to sub-.500 teams on the road and that is why they are in the position they are in.
Plus you need to realize that for they Yanks to get back into it they are going to need some very good teams like the Indians, Sox, and Mariners to fall apart for them to be able to gain any significant ground in the playoff standings.

sorry they **** give up on them its over done whens the funeral a big payroll and they play like that ha ha ha
October 7th, 2009 at 2:50 am
I’d say we got a good shot. We have 2 win at least 2 or 3 every series, then we have a good shot.
Also, the Red Sox, Tigers, Mariners, and Indians have 2 lose some.

The Yankees can have a chance but they have to go 20-9 during tis 29 game stretch. If not they are done. When they played those teams earlier in the year they were starting guys from AA every 4th and 5th day and AAA every 3rd day and a guy from Japan who HAS NO CLUE HOW TO FOLLOW THROUGH, if Igawa would follow through on every pitch instead of every 10th pitch he would be a better pitcher (not cy Young but a servicable 5th starter).
Anyway Hughes should be back late next week or the following week he had an excellent outing in his 2nd rehab start Friday.

Yankee fans and the media are making a big deal about playing a lot of sub-.500 teams over the next month. What they forget is that the Yankees are sub-.500 as well. You’re playing teams at your own level. The Yankees could win 2 out of 3 from each of those teams and still be 8 games back or so. The Yankees only play Boston 6 more times, so they’re is not any room to gain ground. What the Yankees need is not games against poor teams, what they need is games against Boston, and they don’t have it. Enjoy the Giants and Jets in October.
October 10th, 2009 at 10:15 am
but arent you guys sub-.500 as well? whats your point????
I think Toronto will beat you guys silly (and that will be FUN to watch!, KC likes to be the spoiler, and the whiney sux….well you just might get lucky and beat them. Anyone can beat the white sox (oooops, I mean whiney sux) this year. The only games of all that you might even remotely win with no problems is Tampa Bay.

WE ARE A SUB .500 TEAM!!!!! Quit talkin trash already jeez…we can still win but with ppl like u talkin so much trash when we lose we’ll get it twice as bad
October 16th, 2009 at 6:49 am
You know what’s great? Every one of those teams is thinking the same thing. “at least we have the Yankees coming in, we can turn it around”
October 17th, 2009 at 1:44 am
i agree with you 101%. Those ppl that talk so much trash should just shut there mouths….we’re not done yet….like Yogi Berra said “The game isn’t over until it’s over” and i believe that what he said is true…..oh and GO YANKEES!!! =D
October 17th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
well let them think what they want i don’t think i believe if they want to even think playoffs they have to win every single series and gets a sweep or two but they need to be consistent and go Yankees
October 19th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
just face it . for the first time in 7 years the yankees will not be in the playoffs and i love the yankees but they **** , i think next year they will have a good year
October 20th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
I agree. I will always go for the Yankees.
October 21st, 2009 at 6:27 pm
yankees suk
October 24th, 2009 at 8:15 am
yes you are out of it the yankees have no pitching staff. i think all you yankee fans are just denieing it cause you cant take having a loosing season. so **** it up and maybe youll acually try and rebuild your team rather then trading your prospects for pitchers who **** when they come to new york. Yankees wont win a world series for a while cause boston is way to good and the devil rays are quietly building a monster team.
October 24th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
Never doubt the New York Yankees they’ve won the AL east for tha past 9 years and just dont ever count out the heart of a champion
October 27th, 2009 at 5:40 am
There’s no quit and too much pride in a team this good to roll over and give it up.
They will play with a mission in the second half. Look for good things. Only 7 games out.
October 30th, 2009 at 4:55 am
I really dont think my Yankees are done for.
The Red Sox are falling apart because Manny is getting old and he isnt producing like he used to, Ortiz is partly injured, and J.D. Drew is olny batting .252 Julio Lugo is batting .218
Over Dice K’s last two starts he has given up ten runs and struck out 6.
And Coco Crisp is olny batting .266
Curt Schilling is on the 15 Day D.L.
And the Yankees are have a easy upcoming schedule so the Yankees are NOT out of the playoffs.
Go Yankees!
