    Other facts:

    1. 26 championships.

    Based on extremely casual surveying of self-proclaimed Yankees fans, this seems to be the only salient fact necessary to know.

    The New York yankees became a MLB team in 1903. Their first World Series win was in 1923, and they have won a total of 26 World Series. Their most recent WS win was in 2000, and they have played in a total of 39 World Series. They have a heated rivalry win the Boston Red Sox.
