What is something realistic that would give a Yankees fan nightmares?

White Sox asked:

Pinstripes, I would love to hear from you……

Like, what could happen with the Yankees, such as signing someone, making a trade, etc. that would make them have nightmares?

How about being up 3-0 in the ALCS to their biggest rival and then losing 4 straight to lose the series…that would give me nightmares if I was a Yankees fan.

Yankee FeverSeptember 7th, 2009 at 2:27 am

2004 is the biggest nightmare of them all.

As far as this season goes? Losing another starting pitcher. I can’t take anymore of that.

I think if they look back to early this season when the black cat crossed their dugout at US Cellular & seeing how they are doing it should give them nightmares. The last time I know of this happening was 1969 to a Chicago team playing in NY

Being a Yankees fan, I’ll take the bait and respond. Just for giggles.

In order:
1) Them moving out of New York City. (Sorry, even staying in the state and going to the northern suburbs wouldn’t make me happy. The Yankees should remain in New York City for as long as there’s Major League Baseball.)

2) Them folding up and going out of business. (Would be a sad day for baseball. The MLB wouldn’t be the same without the interlocking NY.)

3) Them losing to the Red Sox again like they did in ‘04. (Ruined the ‘04-05 winter for me, along with the NHL Lockout and Syracuse losing to Vermont in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Let us never see any of these horrific instances EVER again.)

4) Them losing to the Mets in the World Series. (The trash talk from Mets fans would NEVER end.)

5) Jeter signing with the Red Sox to end his career. (*shudders* Same goes for Mo Rivera. I should never see this horrific event.)

6) Jim Dolan, the Knicks and Rangers owner, ever buying the team. (He’s already ruined one of my teams and I’m amazed he hasn’t completely obliterated the Rangers yet. Leave my Yankees alone!)

7) Fred Wilpon literally owning them. (He can keep trying to make the Mets into the Brooklyn Dodgers for all I care, wack as it is.)

Hope that helps you.

Not making the playoffs this year!!! We will though don’t you worry!!!

Trading Derek Jeter at the deadline. This guy is the heart and soul and the face of the franchise, and if they got rid of him it would prob break my heart. I would also have to say that signing Barry Bonds would give me nightmares, seeing that guy in pinstripes would make me vomit, and it would disrespect the history of the yankees.

FrizzerOctober 7th, 2009 at 6:35 am

I can’t believe most Yankees fans would be thrilled to see the team sign Barry Bonds. The thought of having syringes tossed on the field at Yankees home games would not fit nicely with true Yankee fans.
