Why are people so mad about Michael Vick killing dogs when people kill each other every day?

People kill each other every day yet the whole country gets mad at Michael Vick for killing a few dogs. When people kill each other everyday, nobody cares, but when Michael Vick kills a few dogs people go crazy. I just think thats interesting.
im sayin why dont people get this outraged when someone lkills someone else cuz it usually isnt national news when someone murders someone else, but it is when michael vicks kills some dogs
Im not saying that killing isnt wrong because i believe that it is wrong. All im saying is that its interesting that most murders dont become national news, yet killing dogs does. Im not saying that one is right and one is wrong because I think that both are wrong.

Killing anything is wrong. I doubt people will suddenly forgive murderers just because of what Vick did. Everyone that murders something, human, dog, or otherwise, deserves to be punished, period.
people who kill people go to prison..People that fight and kill dogs go to prison!!! right??? Nuff said!!!
Wow, I’ve never thought of it that way. You’re so right–nobody gets outraged at people murdering other people, but as soon as a person murders a dog, they can’t contain their outrage.
Thank you for opening my eyes. You’ve discovered a new line of sociological thinking.
“Killing a few dogs?” You trivialize it so much, I actually think you believe your own garbage.
The Michael Vick case became so huge because of the shock value. You don’t hear about the electrocution and severe beating of dogs every day. Most people never thought about dog fighting every day either. Add in the fact that it involved a top player from the biggest league and you have a gigantic story. When we’re introduced to a shocking new story in this country, we jump on it and it becomes a huge issue.
I agree that it seems very odd to treat him like ****** and ignore the many human deaths that occur everyday. However, the rarity of this case along with the cruelty involved caused the overwhelming uproar.
What makes you think we don’t care about the people too?
Both actions are despicable and they need to be punished.
Aside from the pain and torture these animals went through, lets look at the “big picture”
Vick and his ilk were producing extremely dangerous animals and selling/fighting them. This encourages other people to do the same. So the next time you hear about a dangerous dog killing or maiming someone, think of Vick. The next time you hear of someone’s pet missing (now blood bait for a fighting dog), think of Vick. When young people emulate him and end up doing this sport, and getting involved in drugs and other illegal activities, think of Vick. Then think why you even asked this question
CRIME and CRUELTY BEGETS CRIME AND CRUELTY!
are ya listening Chris Samuels and Clinton Portis and others who think like you(the asker) do? (Bet you don’t think it’s “no big deal” now…. huh?)
If you are going to be a role model, you need to live like you deserve it!
I been saying that this whole time. What he did was no different than hunters who kill innocent dear or ducks. It dosent matter if their intentions were different, killing is killing no matter how you try to justify it but everyone is acting like he deserves the death penalty or something. Its ridiculous. There are people who feel just as passionate about ducks and deer as they do dogs, but do we talk about that. Bottom line is if your gonna persecute Vick, be that way towards all animal abuse because this isnt the first case we’ve heard of animals being abused but because hes a star athlete everyone wants to throw in their two cents!!!
I’m curious on what your basis is for “nobody cares”. I think everyone cares did you not see all the support that Oklahoma received with the bombing. Are what about all the people that were there to support people on 9/11. I believe that everyone cares when there senseless acts done to people or pets. Here’s a few example of people that care PETA and MADD. So to say nobody cares is far fetched.
Michael Vick is supposed to be a role model, something sports people tend to forget more and more as time goes by. He’s talented, wealthy, and had a great career going for him, and he threw it away because he couldn’t keep from being involved in illegal felony crimes. He showed that beneath it all he’s just a lousy criminal and that’s a betrayal to the people, young and old, who admired what he had accomplished. It’s no wonder people have turned on him like rabid dogs. He deserves it.
you are as sick as he is, animals were trained to fight, couldn’t kill, so he killed them in inhumane ways, ie hanging, drowning, shooting them, electrocuting them, beating them to death. People kill each other and we know it, usually over a domestic, or gang type thing or war. Not an innocent animal who knows only what the owner teaches it, I do care about people, we are so used to it in our world on the news everyday, someone is shooting someone everyday in DC, but what are we gonna do about it? These were animals who were raised by people to do these terrible fight til you die dog fights. Do you see a difference? Or does it even matter since you’re probably a Michael Vick fan anyway?
That is an absolutely ridiculous statement. People kill people every day, yeah and when they get caught they go to jail. So you think because he ran an illegal dog fighting ring for profit that he should just get a pat on the back and sent home since he just killed dogs. What makes me sick is making money off of it. Doesn’t the NFL pay him enough.
Because people are hypocritical, and not sensitive to other people. We are sold on this belief that we have seen so many murders that its normal. but people don’t get outraged about children being hurt everyday and people getting hurt. I guess dogs are more valuable to people than humans. Its quite sad.
Its really not even about the dogs either it is really the fact that it is Vick and what he represents. A Scrambling qb that portrays a rough image scares mainstream america. Main stream america is afraid of anything that is viewed at as being of the hip hop culture even though it doesn’t see its role in the creation of the culture.
Case and point I was reading the CHicago Suntimes today and in the very middle in a little article the paper ran a story about a dog fighting ring found in the south suburbs of chicago. THe article was about 5 lines long and was hidden very well. I turned the paper to the sports pages and I was blown away by more than 2 and a half pages of Vick coverage. Same crime less pub. It isn’t about the dogs people want Vick to go down.
Everybody that feels he should be a role model is crazy no where in his contract or in his endorsement deal is it spelled out that he must be a role model. No where on the field does it say only role models play here. Vick went to a job just like everyone of us that what the league was to him. Are you any less of a role model? Should everything you do and say be magnified too?
DEDRUM read the damn text and stop guessing I never said anything about race or color there are people of all races involved in the hip hop culture. learn how to read please.
Because it was something you never really hear about and because it was blown out of proportion. the feds investigating dogfighting?? they have better things to do
Terrence, this has nothing to do with the Hip Hop culture.
I am so SICK of every time something “bad” happens to a person of color, a certain section of America starts yelling about how it is all about race. For goodness sakes, a FELONY crime has been committed…the person who did it is a high profile person. Of course it is going to generate a lot of attention. This is no different than Martha Stewart or Paris Hilton getting the book thrown at them… (i.e. there are tons of driving with a suspended lisence and trading before a big deal goes down, but only the high profile peeps get the press. duhhhhh….)
This man DOES have a behavior clause in each of his contracts and endorsements about his personal behavior. What company would not? They have millions of dollars invested in this one person. Did ya see how fast many of his sponsors dumped him after he flipped off the Atlanta fans? How could you possibly believe anyone would want him as a spokesperson or the most high profile person on their team after he has been exposed as a cruel and sadistic person. He was a role model…
the saddest thing is how all the good things he did have been pushed aside (at least until his sentencing)…
I hope this helps discourage other high profile people (and yes that includes hip hop artists) from glamorizing dogfighting. Too many young people start with this and end up in gangs, drugs, and other illegal activities.
People do care when people and children are killed… this was just so shocking coming from someone who seemed to have it all and throw it away. Sad, what a waste…..
You do know people who kill and torture animals like Vick did, usually end up as serial killers. So you are justifying his actions. Wow, you’re quite the person aren’t you. Killing is wrong. Human being or person. And anyone who does that is sick and twisted. You’re sick.
thats digusting when my friend told me about that i almost thew up
