How can we support baseball when most players make more than average person in just 3 games?
chamcham asked:
I am mostly referring to baseball, but the same goes for basketball. If anyone else is feeling the economical crunch, please explain how you can support it? Isn’t minor league just as entertaining? Have they apologized yet for cancelling the World Series?
Haven’t many of them thumbed their noses at fair competition by using performance enhancers?
Don’t you feel like this is the year to show them who has been supporting them so long by withdrawing that support?

The reason they make so much is BECAUSE people support them. It’s not the other way around.
Sports allow people to take their mind of other downer things, so it’s good in that sense.
Performance enhancers are fine by me especially if used for recovery from injuries.
Have you ever watched a movie… They make more money than you..
Have you ever watched tv… They make more money than you
Entertainers in this country compete for your attention and the ones that suceed at that get paid consideibly for that… I hate the why don’t teachers make that kind of money argument…. It’s simple they easily could all you have to do is raise your taxes 3000% since you don’t want to spend money on entertainment it shouldn’t be hard to spend it all for the greater good..
This gives me an idea for a way to shrink the deficit. Lets create an entertainers tax where everyone who in in entertainment or linked to entertainment and earns over $1 mil. a year pays a 50 % income tax with no deductions.
This would inclucde athletes, actors, agents, etc. Since these people all make more than they are really worth, and they don’t need all that money anyway, lets put it to good use.
It would also cut down on all the extra cash that they just use to get into trouble with.
If you are going to take that stance, I hope you will also refuse to go to movies, since the actors make millions and use drugs. Oh, and concerts, and TV, and CDs all support people and lifestyles that you may disagree with.
doubt you would complain if you were in their shoes most people can’t do what they can
*Sarcastically* Oh, what a great idea! Let’s stop going to movies, concerts, baseball and basketball games, and let’s not watch TV this year! Sounds like great fun to me!
I guess you’d rather sit and do nothing at home in protest of baseball! If you’re going to protest something, it should be the war in Iraq, which is a rather more serious issue than a ballplayer’s paycheck.
