How come a Player like Lebron James is so Rare in the NBA?

superman asked:

This guy is 6′8 240 lbs. He’s NFL material. Aren’t players of his physique abundant in the NFL? If so, why don’t more of those NFL players play in the NBA (seeing as how Lebron has been so dominant). They could be like men playing in a boys league.

What do you guys think the reason is?

Because NFL players aren’t skilled enough to play basketball.

  2. Mr. Basketball Says:

Basketball talks the right combination or size, strength, and finesse. Football players have a different skill set. Lebron happened to have the skill set for both. Plus most football player aren’t above 6′2 unless they are recievers like moss and owens or they are fatties on the line.

It’s easier to make it to the NFL (more players) so high schoolers and college players focus their time on football because they have a better chance of going pro.

Its not just his size that makes lebron good. Its his combination of size, speed, athleticism, etc. I don’t think anyone in the NFL could be as good as lebron at basketball.

in the nba you need to have more skills combined then football. Lebron is one of the few players wuth strength combined.

Guys in Football cannot crossover to the NBA because a lot of them lack the skill of an elite basketball player. I’m sure a lot of them tried during their college years but basketball requires a lot more than the body of a football player. LeBron is a rare speciman due to his ability to move at freakish speeds for his size, the ridiculous vertical and the good hands of a ballhandler. The ability for a slightly big man to handle the ball, defend, make plays and create offense is very rare in the NBA and thats is why he is coveted so much.

so many be too lazy. you practice n travel everyday for b-ball. longer season.some football players see b-ball as a punk sport. cant hit nobody so it must be soft. and not all be guys in the NFL can play ball good enough 4 the league. T. Owens is a nice SG height n weight. got speed n hops but his handle is suspect and his shot like like someones grand-pops. he brings the ball over his head on jumpers. Julius Peppers is the exception to the rule. he proved that it cant be done. but they got to the NBA when he was beasting on the field and would get a fatter contract with no rookie salary cap. Tony G of the Chiefs and A. Gates played ball but not well enough in college to make the bread they making as NFL starts. maybe only be role players if that if they went the NBA route. Lebron is rare cuz he was that big and tall in damn high school. u walk the halls in ur high school and seen dudes like him in the halls? in gym or on the team? doubt it! 6′8 240 pound senior? wonder what his dad looks like cuz he ain’t get his size from his money that’s 4 damn sure. MJ was rookie of the year too but at 6′5-6′6 190 something. big difference! one of the many reason he was able to do his thing so quickly in the pros. dude was already built like a vet lol
