How do Red Sox fans feel that their curse breaking World Series MVP was a JUICER?
Daniel M asked:
Gotta love it… Red Sox fans rail on and on about how A-Rod is such a terrible person for taking steroids, and now it’s out that the best right handed hitter in Red Sox history, maybe even baseball history, was on the juice.

To be honest, Manny has always been my favorite Red Sox player, so this is pretty disappointing to me, but if anybody who is surprised about anybody being outed for steroids is obviously naive.
ortiz most likely juices too
pshh, manny was just showing off when we got there. we sweeped those guys and if manny hadn’t played in the series we still would have won it in no more than 6
and as for A-Rod? the man that was supposed to stomp the record set by the little bicth big juicer himself, Bonds? yeah
U CANT COMPARE US TO UR YANKEES.. End of the day a-roid will b coming back to new york and will b mock n mad fun of if he doesnt get off to a good start… does new yorkers r evil creatures to there players =[. manny was toss ALLLLL the way west. so who cares I liked Bay anyways.
if ortiz juices, it aint working..lol
I’m fine with it, thanks. (And, note, I rarely harp on Rodriguez. Just tossin’ that in there.)
The cursebreaker championship was in 2004, when full-bore testing was in progress. No flags on Ramirez then.
2007 championship, no flags.
2009, broadband testing now entering its sixth season, and Ramirez goes positive. O-kay, we’ll take that at face value. Buzz is that his alibi will be inadvertent usage while taking a prescription for something unspecified. O-kay, we’ll take that at face value for now as well, and hold the chortles. Not knowing what he’s ingesting certainly fits in with Ramirez’s “benign lunkhead / naive man-child” public image.
Testing, no doubt, now looks for far more things than were investigated back in 2004. But he was clean then, by the testing procedures in place.
So, to my eye, plausible scenarios for casting a Ramirez-shaped shadow over the 2004 trophy are:
1. Ramirez is a long-time discreet user, and testing now is catching the super-secret steroids he’s been using since 2004 or earlier.
2. Ramirez really did ingest something without realizing it.
Now, even a naif like Manny should have a bit more awareness of what he’s using in these modern times, and if #2 is the case, he’s got no excuses except his own naivete for not having anything checked thoroughly, including asking the union if this stuff (whatever it was) is ok to take. There are multiple resources available for proofing anything that crosses his lips, before it crosses his lips, and he and every player should be taking fullest advantage of them. It is in NO ONE’S interests to have a genuine but unintended positive crop up (or any positive, really, but in such a case, it happens without intent to turbo-charge on-field performance). Taking the basic and available precautions is the right thing to do, and it is entirely possible Ramirez utterly muffed this. Which doesn’t exonerate him, no; what he consumes is very much his responsibility. But I will not ascribe to malice what is easily explained by ineptitude and stupidity, because so often this is the case.
This positive must be recent — 2009 or late 2008, and only now coming out the end of the due-diligence pipeline. There’s no way it dates back earlier than that.
So 2004, 2007, yeah, those are good.
I’m just waiting to hear that Arod tipped pitches to Mark Bellhorn.
Red Sox fans don’t say that Manny is the best RH hitter in RS history. Jimmy Foxx is. Dwight Evans is a more beloved #24. We don’t care for Manny anymore, he doesn’t care for use.
This is 2009 not 2004. I believe Manny tested positive for PEDs in ‘09 not ‘04. It is my belief that Manny wanted that last big paycheck, and did what ever it took over the last 2 years or so to obtain that, his career has now been tainted!
i could and couldnt believe it
i live in boston and am a proud member of red sox nation and this si a disgrace to us
he was always my favorite
All i have to really say its “Manny being Manny”
